GerkinSULLIVANRobert “Bob” C. Gerkin, 92, of Sullivan, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Miller’s Merry Manor.He was born on January 10, 1926 in Eagle Grove, Iowa, the son of Jonathon and Daphne (Thomas) Gerkin.Bob was a U.S. Army veteran and he worked at Farm Bureau in Sullivan, Bemis in Terre Haute and other various locations throughout his life.He was a 51-year member of the Sullivan American Legion Post No. 139.Bob is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 63 years, Donna Stutsman Gerkin and two sisters; Elizabeth Millang and Viola Pettigrew.Survivors include his three sons, Ray (Janet) Gerkin of North Vernon, Indiana, Ronnie Gerkin of Indianapolis, Indiana and Donnie (Tonya) Gerkin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Karen (Ben) Wilhelm, Shawn (Chasity) Gerkin, Rayann (Michael) Scott, LeAnn (Josh) Stidham, Kim (Sean) Moore and Scott Gerkin; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Vivian (Howard) Halberstadt of Sullivan; and 11 nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, with the Rev. Harold Hatfield officiating. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Carlisle, Indiana with a military graveside service by the Sullivan, Shelburn and Hymera Legion posts and Sullivan County VFW post. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 and 9 a.m. until the service on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Brust Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to Our Father’s Arms 711 S Section St., Sullivan, IN 47882 or the American Cancer Society.
